The most gravelly-voiced Beastie Boy Adam Yauch delivered "some pretty heavy news" via the group's website revealing that he recently found a small lump in his throat that has since been diagnosed as salivary gland cancer.
Thankfully for fans, the cancer is localized to one area, is highly treatable and won't affect his voice with the fairly optimistic Yauch explaining 'This is something that's very treatable and in most cases it's, um, they're able to completely get rid of it'.
Yauch will undergo medical treatment next week forcing The Beastie Boys to cancel some future tour dates and push back the release of their upcoming album. Get well soon MCA!
