We've got kind of a good news/bad news situation for all you kids getting super pumped for the ever-looming 2015 incarnation of Laneway Festival. Organisers of the trend-setting summer sonic spectacular have announced that, due to mounting ill health brought on by the rigours of touring, previously announced act Lykke Li is pulling out of the whole festival, and cancelling her sideshows in both Sydney and Melbourne.

In a statement released shortly ago, Lykke Li expressed her dismay at having to cancel the tour, stating that the harsh life of touring has finally caught up to her.

"I'm incredibly sorry to announce that I’m no longer able to play in Australia, New Zealand and Singapore for Laneway Festival. It’s been a long time coming, but unfortunately tour life has caught up with me and it’s been recommended that I take a break. I’m devastated, but know I will return. Thank you for all the support, and I sincerely hope I can make it up to you at a later date."

Refunds for tickets bought to her two sideshows - at the Sydney Opera House and The Forum in Melbourne - can be sought from the ticket outlets.

The good news side to this particular coin, however, is that Laneway has already swooped into action to provide a replacement act for the bill.

Diminutive teenage rap powerhouse Tkay Maizda has been added to all five Australian legs of the festival. Of Maizda, Laneway Festival states:

"The uniquely gifted and endlessly charismatic 18 year old rapper has been churning out consistently head-turning tracks since she emerged 18 months ago, but it is her irresistible latest single, the Pitchfork-approved ‘Switch Lanes’ that assures her a bright future. Catch her party-starting set at Laneway before she dominates festival stages globally."

The 2015 Laneway Festival takes place across the country from the 31st of January until February the 8th, and features acts like Courtney Barnett, Dune Rats, Future Islands, FKA Twigs, Flight Facilities and heaps more.
