The only surprising thing about the great 5 Seconds Of Summer dick pic scandal of 2014 is that it took this long happen.

Overnight, the Aussie punk pop band found themselves in the middle of a social media snafu when 18-year-old bass player Calum Hood decided it would be a good idea to send a Snapchat video of his engorged member to a fan, complete with a winking smiley face caption.

I'm not sure what he thought would happen, but the internet being what it is, the fan recorded the video on another phone, then uploaded Hood's five-and-a-bit inches of summer to Vine, captioned 'CALUM'S DICK I'M SCREAMING'.

If you want to see it for yourself - and c'mon, of course you do or you wouldn't be here - it's not that hard to find on social media. If you see a group of tweens today huddled over a phone giggling, this is almost definitely what they're looking at.

Supporters quickly took to Twitter, with the hashtags #WeLoveYouCalum and #WeDontCareCalumWeAreHereForYou - the second of which may actually be longer than the peen in question - immediately trending.

Hood himself seems pretty chill about it all, and I have to say, based on these tweets, I went from not really giving a shit about him to rolling my eyes to actually kind of liking the guy in a very short space of time.

5SOS have had a pretty phenomenal run of success these past few months, with a number one album in the U.S. and Australia, and a well-received performance at the recent VMAs. They may or may not be receiving social media training as we speak.
