Have you noticed that content sharing and social media platforms are being used increasingly to assist with civic crime-solving? The online vigilante movement empowers the victims of inconvenient crimes to look outside the bureaucracy-fraught channels of official law enforcement and use the infinitely more powerful reach of the Internet to get shit done.

The most recent incident we've come across comes from YouTube user "alexpplummer" who is trying to recover his bike, stolen in a decidedly jerk-like manner on Sunday 25th November just before 7am from Jones Bay Wharf in Pyrmont, Sydney.  alexpplummer is appealing for help from anyone who might recognise the perpetrator or the bike with this security footage that captured the bike thief in the act:
