In 2001 a group of skinny jean wearing New York pretty boys known collectively as The Strokes served up a raw, ecstatic dish of no-nonsense rock and roll in a tightly wrapped 36-minute package called Is This It. The record marked a sign of the times when the sonic zeitgeist suddenly shifted from a Fat Boy Slim-led infatuation with dance music, to the timeless appeal of a guitar and 3 chords. It's been 10 years since the release of Is This It and music website Stereogum are commemorating the anniversary with a tribute album. It's called Stroked... and includes covers by The Morning Benders ("Last Night"), Peter Bjorn and John ("Is This It"), Owen Pallett and more.
