News.

Despite their hard work as a live band, Richard In Your Mind have still found the time to release a new album, only a year since the last, My Volcano,  and written while on tour. SUN, which will be released on September 9 and was mixed by bandmate Brent Griffin (you may know him better as SPOD) in New York, harks back stylistically to first album The Future Prehistoric, both with their floating, slightly melancholic '60s psych contemplation (and, to be fair, 'New Morning' is eerily similar to Future's 'The Valley' - a single track redux?), but the mood and tone is very much the result of the explorative My Volcano and the preceding Summertime EP. SUN is the sound of a band still moving forwards, but refining as it goes. Alyx Dennsion from kyü guests on the album, adding a beautiful dreaminess to the harmonies.

The thematic  use of the sun on previous albums (The Future Prehistoric: 'The New Sun', 'The Green Sun'; My Volcano: 'The Sun Broke Into Your Heart') is, unsurprisingly, further employed on SUN ('Maybe When The Sun Comes Down', 'She Took The Sun Away', 'SUN'), which is pretty great, given how perfectly the album will go down in warmer weather with friends, drinks, some rays and a jay. What perfect timing, with spring around the corner.

“We have always written about the sun,” says lead singer Richard Cartwright. “The constant rotation of our planet has meant that we are offered a cleansing, regenerative opportunity every 24 hours with the sun’s rising."

By the looks of their tour schedule, it offers a new city, too. They'll be joined by incredibly awesome supports The Laurels and Fishing.
