As we reported last week, The Avalanches are putting the finishing touches on the as-yet-untitled followup to 2000's Since I Left You. In fact, according to an Avalanches forum administrator who we assume is close to the band, the long-gestating sophomore LP will be in the can once chillwave forefather Ariel Pink records some vocals.
Now, in a remark that corroborates the above pant-creaming rumour, Modular Records staffer Axel Moline says "It's gonna be out at the end of the year. That's what we get told". Moline was asked about the sophomore Avalanches album by Creative Sydney Artistic Director Jess Scully who chaired a panel discussion called Local Talent, Global Market as part of last week's festival.
The Avalanches question comes up at 2:45 but you should probably watch the whole thing anyway.
