News.

The Strokes leading man, Julian Casablancas has gone all Mariah Carey on us and released a fancy little Christmas tune to bop along to when we celebrate Jesus' birth.

‘I Wish It Was Christmas Today,' isn't all that bad. It is what you'd expect, nothing too out of the ordinary, it's very Stroke-sy easy listening and semi rocky. It's more of song to listen to, as you drive up your parents driveway on Christmas eve preparing yourself for the family hell/heaven that awaits you.

Seriously though, how does any Christmas song really compare to Mariah's ‘All I want for Christmas is You'?' It's not a coincidence that it's one of the highest selling Christmas albums of all time. She said she wouldn't even wish for snow, she's so selfless. Some would say that this particular album was the highlight of her career. And by some I mean me, Pedestrian HQ and the Misshapes DJs who drop it every set.

Go download Mariah's album and when you're walking out the door not feeling quite ready to take on the Christmas shopping bonanza, scroll down to her tasty little album, press play and soon all the pain will go away. Happiness will come and take you away to wonderful world of Santa and snow and elves and merry cheer.

‘Last Christmas' by Wham is a whole other story. It's friggen awesome although I found it riding the top of a ‘Worst Christmas Songs' list. I have absolutely no idea why.

Madonna's rendition of ‘Santa Baby,' is slightly inappropriate. Christmas is a time for families Madonna, not at all a time and a place for your ‘Like a Virgin' minxy self to come out on the prowl.

John Denver loved December 25th so much he had a whole album dedicated to his special day. The best track without a doubt is ‘Please daddy don't get drunk on Christmas'. It's off his superbly titled album, ‘Christmas for Cowboys', where all those super manly cowboys can unsaddle their stallions, tie up their stead, pop this baby on and swoon the night away at the local saloon.

But we always come back to Mariah (sorry Jules). She doesn't even care about the presents she just want you for her own, more than you could ever know. Come on make her wish come true, because baby all she wants for Christmas is YOU!
