Imagine you were walking down a road you knew very well, minding your own business, a little absent minded perhaps. When out of nowhere you fall into a cavernous abyss carved from solid ice. Don't worry you're not going to die, it's just an optical illusion.
Edgar Müller paints urban areas to give them a different look and thereby challenge the audience's perception. For this year's Festival of World Cultures the German artist transformed a huge slice of the East Pier into a dramatic ice age scene.
As a Master of 3d Pavement Art Müller needed 5 days to complete the above work "The Crevasse". Together with five assistants Müller painted all day long from sun rise to sun set and created the enormous illusion by applying the anamorphic technique to a huge pavement painting.
