Does this image of a fat and hairy not to mention naked "artiste" scratching his paint splattered butt and admiring his half-assed (sorry) artwork make you want to buy a Zune? No? Some toilet paper maybe?
Set to Shinichi Osawa's remix of Digitalism the advertisement looks more like a PSA against acid with its literal inclusion of shit art (sorry again). Created by ad agency Sibling Rivalry the spot was unsurprisingly rejected by Microsoft but is sure to garner more attention than their current ad which, you know, features less projectile ass painting.
Also featuring splattered paint is this advertisement for Toshiba which employs glitchy kinetic visuals to accompany the equally glitchy Crystal Castles. All these people look like they just stepped off an American Apparel shoot, ate some hallucinogenics and got creative back at their Arts College common room. Despite my cynicism the ad is astounding visually and benefits from not having anyone over the age of 40 getting their gear off.
From the above, I can see that advertisers are trying to speak our language and studying Feist film clips and following Hype Machine but seriously, no one will ever top the following brand's use of a music act in an advertisement. Ever. So everyone should just stop trying.
