For Bassike's SS 2011-12 collection designers Deborah Sams and Mary Lou Ryan have evolved their typically utilitarian aesthetic into a fine range of day-to-night summer options for the laidback but sartorially conscious guy and girl. Beautifully clean lines and understated modern cuts are lifted through a palette of eye popping whites and separate pieces in summer fruit colours like watermelon and mango. For the lookbook Bassike has re-teamed with photographer Beau Grealy and the results evoke Bond movie extras hanging on the set of a 1960s Californian bungalo. Also, people who might travel by boat.

Time and again Bassike produce minimalistic and hugely wearable collections that are perfectly current - and there's nothing basic about that.
