Looks and talent aside, actress and musician Zooey Deschanel has a likeability rating that outshines most of her Hollywood peers. Her wholesome attitude and offbeat taste makes her the girl we love to love, so it would seem fitting that she’s become somewhat of an unofficial role model for young women.

She's a role model for DIY media moguls too. Not only is she set to star in the upcoming Fox series The New Girl, which she describes as a modern Mary Tyler Moore Show or That Girl; she's just launched a website alongside fellow awesome ladies Sophia Rossi (writer, TV producer) and omnipresent blogger Molly McAleer.

Titled Hello Giggles, the site is an online hub ‘for smart, independent and creative females.’

“We’re all avid Internet users, and we knew that there wasn’t a site that was exactly what we wanted to visit: A mix of sketch comedy and intelligent, interesting writing, and 100% security that we weren’t going to be assaulted by unpleasant imagery or attitudes,” the trio told Refinery 29.

“We really wanted to create the kind of site that we’d want to visit. We wanted to create something that had legitimately funny videos and great writing and tips and tricks on how to make life lovelier.”

The site features daily musings, articles and videos with content covering entertainment, beauty, fashion and how-tos, such as Summer Fashion: Stay Cool and Classy, Poisonous Pals: How to Identify Them and How to Get Rid of Them, recipes, TV recaps and crafternoons with Zooey.

Prompted by a gap they saw for ‘lady-friendly’ content (Awl spinoff The Hairpin and Jane Pratt's xoJane are other recent entrants) Hello Giggles assure us we ‘need not worry about finding the standard Boys Club content that makes many entertainment sites unappealing to so many of us.’
