In the world of gay filmmaking there's a few names that always pop up in conversation: John Waters, Gus Van Sant and Bruce LaBruce. While LaBruce's filmography may not be quite as accessible at your local Civic as the other two, his cultural significance as a provocateur, boundary smasher and pioneer of transgressive cinema is easily as vital. So pumping out a documentary about his life "Bruce LaBruce: The Advocate For Fagdom" is a just tribute.

The films he wrote, directed and starred in include Super 8 1/2 and his homage to Sunset Boulevard Hustler White had Karl Lagerfeld call him a "pornographic genius".

Life was just one big, multiple-penis perversion after another. Bless.
