Racing heir though she may be, Kate Waterhouse has forged her own career through hard work, professionalism and, yes, a few conveniently open doors. "But it's up to you to walk through them," she says. Kate's evolution from appearing in the social pages to writing for the social pages has been a relatively natural and easy transition, particularly because of her fast-discovered love of writing.

As the Style and Fashion Editor for the Sun Herald in Sydney, Kate's responsibilities exceed beyond simply looking the part. She also needs to wrangle her journalistic tasks, which she does with great capability. Kate spoke about the progression of her interesting and enviable career at Start Up, the creative conference hosted by Pedestrian Jobs and Macleay College.

Macleay College is an award-winning education option for those eager to get started in their career sooner and has produced several of Australia's most renowned names in Journalism, Advertising and Business. With over 12 diploma options and FEE-help available, taking the first step toward your dream job has never been easier.

Macleay College is currently enrolling NOW for 2012, so if you would like to talk to a Careers Adviser about how you could be working in your chosen field in just 12 months, please head here.
