Photography And Place

The day retailers made SLRs affordable for every girl in denim cutoffs is the same day that real photography -the art form, not the Facebook album- became an increasingly rare proposition. Our friends at the Art Gallery of New South Wales are back to show you how the big boys (and girls) do it with a staggeringly massive exhibition that contrasts 1970s landscape photography with some newer works and includes pieces by Jon Rhodes, Lynn Silverman, Simryn Gill, Ricky Maynard, Rosemary Laing and Paul Ogier. If you don’t know who they are, get off your computer and go see something that you can’t download onto your desktop.
