In case you haven't found it yet, 19 Karen is a contemporary art space on the Gold Coast committed to showcasing the new generation of emerging Australian and International artists, and they've got a fantastic show opening this weekend.

LIGHTMARES is an initiative launching this Saturday, 22 May, as a response towards the lack of studio and exhibition resource on the Gold Coast. Featuring an eight-week program from 22 May-19 June 2010, the program showcases a solo collection of works by iconic Berlin artist MYMO - who has been announced as the final speaker at the Brisbane leg of Semi-Permanent - and an exhibition of emerging Australian artists including:

This show is more my style. Detailed works which required a lot of artistic effort and they make you think. You may or may not appreciate the style or the message, but you have to admit these pieces have artistic merit.
